The Indian Cue Masters league will be held at the Rajpath Club Ahmedabad, Gujarat from 19th – 25th August, 2017. The league also called as Cue Slam is a first-of-its-kind franchise-based Indian league featuring top names and the most promising talent from the world of cue sports.

Cue Slam is an initiative taken by Billiards & Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) and SportzLive. The league is an amalgamation of 6 Red Snooker and 9 Ball Pool. For the first season, Cue Slam will be played on a round robin cum knock-out format with each tie having five matches with three 6 Red snooker and two 9 Ball pool matches per tie.

The League will feature a shot-clock; players will have to take their shots within 20 seconds, with a 10-minute span for each frame. The fans will also be encouraged to cheer their players during the games, unlike in traditional cue sports which demands silence.

The aim is to popularize cue sports in India. Cue sports are one of the most popular indoor sports played in India. More than two million amateurs are believed to play one or more forms of the sport regularly.

Cue Slam is staging 5 franchise teams and each team will have five players both Indian and International players – one icon player, one female player, three male players, with a minimum of three Indians in each team, competing for the title. In keeping with the city-based teams, the five franchises are called Bengaluru Buddies, Chennai Strikerss, Delhi Dons, Gujarat Kings and Hyderabad Hustlers.

The matches will be broadcast live on Sony ESPN, Sony ESPN HD and Sony Liv from 18:00 hours – 20:30 hours.

As our Indian Cueists Pankaj Advani says “India has many highly talented players but they haven’t had the platform to showcase their skills till now. A format like this will excite the fans and I see it becoming a very popular sport soon.”
